Teva Hite, LCMHC

Teva Hite, LCMHC joined Widening Circles in 2019 and currently serves as co-owner and Clinical Director. She is also the founder of the Widening Circles Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the mental health of survivors affected by Hurricane Helene. As a board-certified and licensed clinical mental health counselor, Teva provides professional, relevant, and effective therapeutic services for adults and families. With over 20 years of pre- and post-graduate counseling experience, she has worked with diverse populations across a range of settings.

Teva earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Appalachian State University, focusing on the intersection of art and mental health. She went on to complete her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at Western Carolina University in 2017. Her academic background also includes studies in Philosophy, Religion, and Fine Art.

Her professional experience spans various therapeutic environments, including Level I, II, and III residential treatment facilities in Western North Carolina. She has also worked in program development for adults with developmental disabilities in Mount Vernon, Ohio, and has extensive experience in community-based mental health, including intensive in-home therapy, case management, family visitation coaching, and family reunification. Additionally, Teva has contributed to nonprofit initiatives both locally and abroad and has training in neurofeedback, as well as outpatient therapy.

Teva’s clinical specialties include mood disorders, attention disorders, trauma, and self-identity. She has undergone extensive training in Neurofeedback, Quantitative Electroencephalography (qEEG), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Her integrative therapeutic approach incorporates principles from Neurobiology, Feminist Therapy, Expressive Arts, Existential Counseling, Person-Centered Therapy, and Family Systems Theory.

Committed to advancing innovative mental health methodologies, Teva integrates qEEG-guided neurofeedback training, neuromodulation, and photobiomodulation (PBM) into her practice. She has experience providing ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) and played a key role in pioneering the Widening Circles group KAP model. By utilizing biofeedback and neurofeedback, she enhances the therapeutic benefits of KAP for her clients.

A resident of Western North Carolina since 1986, Teva is deeply dedicated to expanding access to cutting-edge therapies for underserved populations. In her free time, she enjoys life in the countryside with her family, tending to her garden, and caring for her cats. She is also an accomplished ceramic artist and a passionate conifer tree enthusiast.
