Myriah Cooper, BA (they/them)

Raised in the Turks and Caicos, Myriah’s love of the natural world began at an early age. As a queer, neurodivergent person in a small community, they often found more comfort in nature than in the human world. Raised with Sea and Land as coparents, the more-than-human realm has always felt like home.

They studied philosophy, literature, and art at UNCA, and have since established a career as a photographer and writer with a focus on nature, authenticity, and connection.

Myriah’s love for the more-than-human world has lead them to study various ecological disciplines including panpsychism, rewilding, ecopsychology, ecofeminism, animism, wildcrafting and herbal medicine making in Western North Carolina. They hope to share these practices with participants of the Heartwood IOP to provide deep, connective healing through the rediscovery of our place in the great, humming web of life.
