jack Fisher, MSW Intern (they/he)

Jack (they/he) is a passionate advocate for community-centered approaches to healing, policy, and social transformation. As a Master of Social Work (MSW) candidate, jack brings a deep understanding of the intersections between social justice, mental health, and economic policy. Their work is rooted in the belief that mutually constructed systems of support are essential for fostering equity, reciprocity, resilience, and collective well-being.
As an intern at Widening Circles, jack is excited to contribute to Widening Circles’ mission by applying their skills in research, advocacy, and creative communication to support holistic and regenerative community practices. jack’s work aims to foster meaningful dialogue, strengthen systems of care, and advocate for policies that uplift historically marginalized communities.
As part of jack’s internship their work specifically explores the intersections of therapeutic modalities, such as ketamine and MDMA therapy, with community healing practices. They are particularly interested in how alternative and holistic approaches can be woven into broader social support structures.
In addition to clinical training, jack is engaged in policy research on short-term rentals (STRs) and their effects in Buncombe County, NC, examining their impact on housing affordability, neighborhood stability, and local economies. They are also engaged in research on capital punishment and racial bias, analyzing disparities in sentencing and systemic inequities in the criminal legal system. Their approach integrates data-driven visual storytelling with advocacy, making complex policy discussions more accessible and actionable. During bouts of free time jack loves hanging out with his partner and their 6 year old, playing rhythm guitar (esp. The Talking Heads), and making whimsical watercolor paintings of the mountains and flowers.
