What is Neuroregulation?

At Widening Circles, we focus on neuroregulation, offering education and tools to enhance emotional regulation and brain health. Participants learn about brain states, heart rate variability (HRV), and how to use safe, non-invasive devices like CES (Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation), AVE (Audio Visual Entrainment), and PBM (Photobiomodulation). In a clinical group setting, Neuroregulation includes therapeutic interventions designed to stabilize and regulate the nervous system, which is used to treat trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, or emotional dysregulation. These techniques may include neurofeedback, biofeedback, mindfulness, and other methods aimed at improving self-regulation, especially for conditions such as ADHD, PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, and trauma-related disorders.

Examples of Safe, Tested Neuroregulation Methodologies Used at Widening Circles

  • Alpha-Stim AID & CES Devices: These deliver low-level electrical currents to promote relaxation, manage pain, and alleviate anxiety, depression, or insomnia.
  • Audio Visual Entrainment (AVE): Rhythmic auditory and visual stimuli encourage the brain to sync with specific patterns, helping with focus, relaxation, and mood enhancement.

These tools complement traditional neurofeedback and advanced neuroregulation techniques, offering convenient, non-invasive options for achieving Neuroregulation which is a state of emotional and cognitive well-being.

How is Neuroregulation Included in the Heartwood IOP?

At Widening Circles, neuroregulation plays a vital role in our Heartwood Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Participants gain hands-on experience with:

  • Education: Learn how brain states influence behavior and develop skills to enhance resilience and flexibility in the nervous system.
  • Biofeedback Training: Understand how heart rate and breath connect to stress and relaxation through HRV techniques.
  • Practical Application: Devices like Alpha-Stim, CES, AVE, and PBM are used to optimize brain function and emotional regulation.

These tools are actionable and knowledge gained is easily integrated into daily life, fostering both personal growth and mental wellness in a supportive group environment.
